Happy Pink Saturday!

Two weekends ago my mom and I got together to make some beautiful cards out of the most amazing butterfly/fairy paper I have ever seen! I was going to post it last weekend but I was busy with the tea party you will see below. Here is my mom, Ginger, displaying one of her beautiful creations.

And here is one of my favorite cards I made that day. It was a no-makeup day and we all need a break every now and then.

I made some wonderful blueberry crumb muffins and tea for us to enjoy while working on our creations. It was a really sweet time of creating together.

Here are 4 of the cards I made that day. I made several more and they are just as pretty!

I had so much fun making those cards with my mom and I hope we can get together to do that again soon.

Last weekend I invited Maggie, Lucie, and James to a butterfly fairy tea party. I guess the cards I made inspired me.
The theme for the tea table was butterflies, fairies, pink, purple, and glitter!!!

I love how the centerpiece turned out. It is so enchanting and romantic. I don't have the heart to take it down so to this day it is still in the center of my table because I am enjoying it so much. I may just leave the fairies there until Halloween.

I used ivory lace place mats, ivory rose point and pink dishes. I rolled the pink napkins up into roses like my mom taught me to do during our card making day. She always teaches me the greatest things! I poked a beautiful glittery butterfly into the napkin to look like they were hovering over the rose. So sweet! I made each person a party favor place card holder from a toilet paper tube, tissue, scrapbook paper and embellishments. They turned out so beautifully!

I made pink and purple butterfly sugar cookies . . .

and even a special plate of cookies for Mr. Stoops.

Here is the side table that held all of the goodies, including fairy fruit wands, fairy valley veggies and ranch dip, fairy sprite sandwiches, fruity fairy squares, and stained-glass butterfly cookies.

I was so happy about how everything turned out. It ended up being a beautiful, and delicious, presentation.

I can't believe Maggie will be 11-years-old in December. She will be in the 5th grade this year and she is so excited about school!

Lucie is 7-years-old now and she will be in the 1st grade this year. They start school next week. Lucie had a good summer of learning how to read a lot better. I know her teacher will be impressed because I am sure not many of her classmates know how to read.

James is such a good dad and he is very proud of his girls. I am so excited for him to be a daddy again . . . the daddy of my little bundles of love. I hope that happens soon. I am so crazy about him!

The next day we decided to make fairy houses and we put them in my backyard for the fairies to live in.

That is a real mushroom growing in my rose garden next to this cute fairy house. Isn't it cool!

Maggie's fairy house was definitely the coolest!

She made a bed out of a match box and she made the headboard from pine cone bark. She made a chandelier out of a small pine cone and a little table and chair. It is so cool!

Happy Pink Saturday My Sweet Friends!

Iwanted to show you how my first paper flowers turned out. My mom, Ginger, inspired me to make some of these beautiful flowers from old book or dictionary pages. You could use old sheet music paper too!

This is the first flower I made. I just antiqued the edges of the petals with brown ink and I think it is very charming and simple. I love the sweet simple pearls in the center. I glued a small wooden clothespin clip to the back so it could be clipped to a gift bag or other item. This flower is clipped on to a gift bag of goodies I am going to give my mom.

This is the second flower I made and it is huge! There are 20 petals on this flower! At first she was just plain and then I added some pink glitter to the edges of the petals. I let that dry and I still wasn't happy with it so I sprayed it with pink glimmer mist and now she is a lovely rose shade. She will be fun to use to decorate with!

These next two flowers I made yesterday and I had so much fun with them. If you don't know how to make these flowers and you would like to make them, I will give you the instructions below. You should definitely try them. It is so much fun!

This is my favorite flower I have made so far. I love the magenta and pink hues and I love the sweet glass bead in the center of this flower. I wish you could see them in person!

Here are the instructions for how I made these beautiful paper flowers. First you will need: some old paper from a book, dictionary, music sheet; used dryer sheets; tissue paper; crepe paper; a sturdy piece of chipboard or cardboard; a pencil; scissors; 3-in-1 adhesive; glitter glue; glimmer mist; small clothespins; scrapbook paper; redline tape; pearls and other beads.

First, draw a petal shape on the chipboard for a pattern and cut it out.
Trace the petal shape several times (as many petals as you want on the flower) on the old paper and cut them out. Punch or cut out a circle to glue the petals on and begin scrunching and glueing and arranging petals around the circle, one layer at a time until the curcle is covered and you have enough petals for your liking.

Glue beads in the center of the circle. You could use buttons or bling or whatever you like!

Put a piece of redline tape on one straight edge of the clothespin and stick it to the back of the flower.

Spray the flower petals with your color choice of glimmer mist and let dry.

Apply glitter glue to the edges of the petals and let dry. You can embellish it more with bling and more glitter until you are happy!

You can also cut petals from crepe paper, tissue paper, and dryer sheets to give the flowers a different effect. I used dryer sheets for the magenta flower and I LOVE it!

I hope you have fun making your paper flowers. Please let me know if you make some and what you think! Also let me know if you have made them before and how you make them differently. I'm always looking to improve my crafting ability and I love to learn from you!

James and I went to Guthrie last Saturday. We ate at the Victorian Rose tea room and went to several antique and gift shops. I ran out of money after the first stop so James bought me several old glass bottles and some sweet baby shoes that I am going to embellish. I can't wait to show you how they turn out.

James will be starting a new job on August 15th and it is in my home town!!! I am so happy for him and I am so excited for us! We are one step closer to being together and starting our new life together in one location. It is very hard on both of us and his girls to be living an hour away from one another. I know that when he moves here things will be a lot less stressful and I am so excited for that day to come!

Happy Pink Saturday!

Hello Friends!
I wanted to share some of the projects I have completed recently with you today! I bought these picture frame key rings for $1 from a discount catalog about 5 years ago and forgot I had them. I decided to give them a makeover and hang them on my sweet pink tree in my kitchen. I took the key rings off of the frames and gave each one a hook so they would hang on the tree.

Then they got a nice coat of white paint and some sanding when the paint dried. I inserted some sweet images that would match with the theme of the tree and they were done!

They were so easy to make and they are just adorable!!! It's amazing what you can do with a little creativity! I also hand-painted two dozen of those sweet teapot ornaments you see beside the picture frame ornament especially for this tree!

Here is the whole pink tree all dressed up for a summer tea party. In Oklahoma we are resorting to having our tea parties indoors this summer because it hasn't been below 100 degrees here since May. Everything in my yard is crispy!

I've been busy making some of those daring faux cakes that you see on the table too. I will show you a close up of each one! What a lovely side table ready for afternoon tea!I bought these candle holders several years ago and painted them white last weekend. Now they are just gorgeous. Don't you love how ornate they are?

Here are the close up pictures of the tea cakes I made from styrofoam, light weight spackle, embellishments, and glitter. I think they turned out so darling! This is my favorite one. It is supposed to be a wedding tea cake. Aren't the little white doves just precious?Here is my second-favorite tea cake. I love the rose on this cake. They're too pretty to eat!

I love the criss-cross pattern of "frosting" on this tea cake. It looks like the real thing!

This tea cake reminds me of Mary Englebright. I think it is because of the bright pink roses. It is too cute!

Here is the big mama cake I made. I purchased a cake stand from Rebecca a few years ago and it has been sitting bare lately so I decided she needed a cake, and she needed one that would last longer than a week and not grow mold all over the top. This is the perfect cake for the most beautiful shabby pink cake stand. I am so happy! My tea table is finally complete! I am, however, making plans to make some faux cookies, cupcakes, and candies to add to the table soon.

I have been working on creating some beautiful paper flowers that my mom, Ginger, taught me to make. I am using the pages of an old book I found at an antique store for $2 and then adding glitter and embellishments. I am having so much fun with these things! I am going to make a bunch of them and glue clips and/or magnets on the back and give them out when I give gifts to my friends. I will show you how they turned out soon!

Three Cheers for the Pink, White, and Blue!

Hip, Hip, Hurray! It's almost Independence Day! I've had the blues for a while because I have been sick and I am still battling with my funders over my grant I just wrote so I needed to do something creative to lift me out of the funk I've been in. I remembered that I had a small box of Independence Day decorations in the attic. James happily got them down for me (he is such a sweetheart) from their hiding place in the hot attic. I opened the bin to discover that the things in the box would not fit the decor of my home . . . there just wasn't enough pink!!! So I picked a few things out of the bin and . . . gave them a makeover!!! Now I have some really sweet pink, white, and blue (and silver) decorations that match the decor of my home and help celebrate Independence Day!

Aren't they just darling! I am so excited about how sweet they turned out!

It was a lot of fun to turn that red, white, and blue stuff into something soft and pastel. And you better believe I broke out the glitter! Silver glitter to be precise!

After I painted the chunky stars and the hat, I painted the cute firecrackers you saw in the pictures with the stars. They are just so cute! Then I got inspired to make some other festive things like this darling altered bottle that I filled with chunky silver glitter.

I also added some festive sweets to my display like these pink, white, and blue candies and . . .

these sweet pink, white, and blue star sugar cookies. They taste just as sweet as they look!

Then I got inspired to make a banner for Independence Day. I am so happy with how it turned out. It certainly is a celebration of the pink, white, and blue!

I know the dresser that everything is displayed on is not so pretty but I bought it at a garage sale for $10 with the hopes of giving her a makeover. I'll have to get my white paint out and get busy! I'll let you know how she turns out!

Happy Pink Saturday My Sweet Friends!

I want to thank all of you sweet ladies for all of your congratulations and well wishes on my recent engagement. James and I are very happy and very excited. The initial plan was to marry this September but after thinking about things we have much to do before we will be ready to get married so we have postponed the wedding. James has two little girls we must think about and he lives in another town which means he will have to find a job in my town and sell his house. We are hoping to get these things taken care of and save some money before we tie the knot. No matter how long it takes it is worth it to put in the time and effort to plan things out and do them the right way because we love one another so much and we know our love will withstand any amount of time.

I hope you don't mind if I share some purple for Pink Saturday. I have a dear friend named Gina Jones and she has been my dental hygenist and my friend for 10 years. I recently found out (at my last dental checkup) that Gina moved to Houston to be near her family and MD Anderson because she has been diagnosed with sarcoma. I am feeling a lot of sadness for her and her family. She just recently got married and had her first beautiful baby girl named Mallory. Now she is sick and she is struggling. The dental office has a box they ship to her each week or so and if patients want to bring cards and gifts in they will mail it to her. I made this tag that Gina can use as a bookmark to reminder her that she can get through these tough times.

I made this sweet match box and covered it with music paper. I added lace and ribbon and flowers to the top.

I added a picture of a pretty fairy to the top and put glitter on her wings.

Then I filled the match box with inspirational items that I thought might make her smile.

I hope Gina enjoys her lovely match box filled with treasures. I know it won't make things better but maybe it will warm her heart to know that someone back in Oklahoma is thinking about her and praying for her. I hope you will also pray that God will heal Gina's body and take the cancer away so she can be there to watch baby Mallory grow up in to a beautiful young lady.

Big News!

Happy Pink Saturday my Sweet Friends!

Ok, I just can't stand it any longer. I have to tell you my big news! After two years of dating James finally proposed and I'M ENGAGED!!! So now we are planning a wedding! I am so happy and so very excited. James had a wonderful weekend planned out for us to make his big proposal. He was going to take me to a beautiful bed and breakfast in Oklahoma City and he arranged for a special dinner to be prepared just for me at the B&B. He said he was going to proposed to me in his sailboat on the water as the sun was setting and then take me back to the B&B for that special dinner he had arranged. I missed out on all of it (I'm getting teary-eyed) because I got sick the night before we were supposed to leave. So I recuperated in my bed alone that night and he came over the next day to be with me and one of my favorite songs was playing on the radio. It is the song called "Marry Me" by the group Train and he got down on one knee in my living room and pulled out a beautiful ring from his pocket. He told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. It was a very tender and intimate moment. I was not expecting it and he was very nervous. I said "yes" and he put the ring on my finger and we embraced. i can't wait to show you the pictures of the beautiful ring he designed just for me. He worked with a jeweler for six months to get it right! It is one of a kind and very unique, just like my sweet James.
So now I have wedding on the brain! I've been looking at tons of pictures of all things wedding. I know I want to do pink and ivory, so how about a dress like this?

Or what do you think of this one? It's a bit much for me but I love the color!!!

And maybe a cake like this? It's covered in edible pink glitter! Really!

Or maybe this one instead. This definitely looks more like my style. Aren't these roses to die for! They are absolutely stunning!!!

And I love these shabby cabbage roses for decorations. So pretty!

Here are a few beautiful pink wedding buffets. They have such great ideas!

This bridal bouquet is just gorgeous and I hope I can have one just like it. I like the darker pinky mauve roses because the wedding will be in September so a lighter pink might not be appropriate.

I can't believe my sweet little blog is one year old today! I have met so many wonderful, amazing, talented ladies though this blog and I feel so blessed to have all of you in my life. My life has truly been enriched because I have met you and connected with you through our blogs. Thank you to all of you sweet ladies that have touched my life over this past year. You have blessed and inspired me in ways that you can't even imagine and I am so thankful for your friendship, kindness, and love.
