Happy Pink Birthday!

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy 3rd Birthday to How Sweet the Sound!

I want to thank Beverly for hosting us all these great years. It has been such a pleasure to meet all of you sweet ladies and it is mainly though Pink Saturday that I have connected with you so thank you again Beverly for giving me an outlet and an opportunity to meet so many talented, wonderful ladies!

I wanted to share some pictures of the Mother's Tea I held last weekend to honor my mom and my grandma. I didn't get to do it on Mother's Day weekend because I was working but I think last weekend was just as special. First I want to show you the sweet bottles and baskets I made them. This is the Marie Antoinette bottle I made for my mom. Oohh La La! Isn't she lovely? I also made a bottle for my grandma. It is just as sweet with a little bird cage embellishment on it. I had so much fun decorating these antique bottles.

Here is a picture of the baskets favors I made them. I used peet pots and painted the outside. I glued music paper on the inside and then embellished them with lace trim, glitter, flowers, and ribbon. I think they turned out so sweet! I put some Jordan almonds and dutch mints in them. They were the perfect favor and place card holder.

Here are some pictures of the tea table. I decided to have the tea out on my covered patio in the back yard because it was the PERFECT weather for dining al fresco.

I bought these dishes several years ago and they have violets on them so they were the inspiration for the tea table decor. Most of us pink lovin' gals like purple too!

Here I am with my sweet mama. She looked so pretty with her crochet sweater and she made the flower on her shirt and in her hair. They were so adorable!

Here are the three generations. I need to hurry up and have my own little girl so it can be four generations! (But I'd like to get married first.) I know I am a very blessed woman to have such a wonderful mom and grandma. They have been good examples to me of how to be a lady and how to live a good life. I was watching American Idol last week and the lovely Lauren Alaina sang the most beautiful song called "Like My Mother Does". If I could get up on the stage and sing I would sing this song to my mom. The words of that song really describe who she is and what she means to me. I hope you will listen to it here. If the link doesn't work I encourage you to go to youtube and find the video. It is such a beautiful song and you will be blessed when you hear it. Mom I love you and I am so blessed to be your daughter. I am who I am because of your love and guidance all these years. Thank you so much for believing in me and supporting me. You are the best mom in the world and I am so blessed to be your daughter.

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend and a blessed Pink Saturday! Enjoy your day!

Much Love and Blessings to You!

Spoon Chimes

Happy Pink Saturday My Sweet Friends!
I can't believe it is already the weekend! Next thing you know it will be Monday! Yuck! I want to thank Beverly for hosting another wonderful Pink Saturday event. It is always so much fun to connect with my Pink Lovin' Friends to share our thoughts and ideas!
Last weekend James and I had big plans to enjoy the afternoon and evening together on another little adventure. First we went to Edmond, OK to check out their great arts festival where artisans of all kinds come from all over the country to sell their wares. There was so much amazing art and my camera battery was dead (nice surprise) so I couldn't take any pictures to show you, but I did come home with a little treasure. It was something I knew I couldn't live without. I am feeling the itch to work and live outdoors more since summer is quickly approaching so I was in the market for some new wind chimes. I never thought I would find some at an arts festival! But I did! And they are made from antique spoons! She had others with pie servers, knives, and forks, but I loved the beautiful, perfect sound these spoons make when they hit one another. The sound is very crisp and distinct. And I love how beautiful they are to look at too! The artist said that some of the spoons were from the 1800's! That is really amazing to me. I am sure none of the ladies and gentlemen that enjoyed eating with these spoons ever thought they would be hanging on my front porch and making me smile each time I hear them sweetly ringing.

I love my spoon chimes and I would love to learn how to make some more. I guess I'll have to get busy studying them to figure it out! James and I went to Guthrie, OK after we enjoyed the arts festival. We were going to have dinner and see a musical at the Pollard Theater but while sitting at dinner I began to feel very sick so he took me home. He had already bought the tickets for the show but he chose to take me home and take care of me instead. He is such a sweet, loving, kind man. I felt so terrible because he wasted all that money. I will have to do something to make it up to him!

It turns out that the next day I got sick with the stomach flu and had to miss 3 days of work! I was very sick and weak this past week, but I am better now. I went back to work on Thursday and found out that my big grant (my only source of funding for my agency) was posted and is due in 3 weeks. It has been a very stressful week for me and I will have several more ahead of me until the grant is due. But I know if I take breaks to relax (and hopefully create) I will get through it. God has given me everything I need to handle this task. I know I can do it, but I may have a one track mind for a while trying to get this grant writing done so I might not have any new posts for a bit. I am sure I will still be crafting away and will have all kinds of pretties to show you, but I have to get that grant done first or I could lose my job! And I have to keep working so I can afford to keep creating!

Thank you to all of you sweet ladies that have been leaving comments on my posts. I treasure each word and will be visiting your blogs to return the favor. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Pink Saturday! I plan to spend the rest of the weekend RESTING. I really need a weekend of doing absolutely nothing since the weeks ahead will be so busy. I hope you can do the same!

Blessings to You!

Happy Mother's Sunday!

Happy Mother's Day!

I created this post in honor of my mother, Ginger. She is a wonderful mom and I wanted to share some things about her today, but first I wanted to share the history of Mother's Day with you. I wasn't sure of the history myself but I found some great information about it at The Holiday Spot. It is very interesting reading if you don't know the history of Mother's Day.

This is my mom Ginger. Many of you know her and know what a great lady she is. I am very blessed to call her my mom. She has taught me so much and given me so much and I am thankful for each and every thing. I am thankful for the friendship we have today as adults but I also know that if I need a mama she is there for me.

There are so many things my mom has taught me over the years that it would be hard to list them all but I wanted to share the top 5 things she has taught me that have been most important in my life so far:

1. How to cook - my mom is a great cook and she passed her skills down to me. I can remember as a little girl her letting me help her in the kitchen and her showing me how to do things.

2. How to sew - I have been able to make so many beautiful things because I knew how to sew and she taught me on her grandmother's old Singer sewing machine (that she still has and uses!)

3. To never give up - she taught be the art of self-determination by raising two kids by herself and holding down two jobs. She worked long, hard hours and even did extra things on the side to make enough money to get by. She taught me that if you work hard and don't give up you will get through anything.

4. To find enjoyment in life - there are so many things my mom enjoys - crafting, birds, drinking a good cup of tea or coffee, decorating magazines - and she takes the time to enjoy each one. Sometimes it is hard for me to stop and enjoy things because my life is so busy right now so I have to force myself to stop and enjoy living.

5. The love of God - my mom has a very strong faith and loves Jesus. She taught me the importance of having a relationship with God from a very early age. She made sure we went to Sunday school and got a good foundation when we were little. That has carried over into my adult life and I am so thankful for the relationship I have with God today because He's gotten me through so many hard times in my life.Without that relationship that my mom helped foster so long ago I don't know where I would be today.

I am going to spend some time this afternoon with my dear mom, but in a few weeks I am going to have a tea party celebration for her. I will be sure to take a lot of pictures and post them here for you to see. The picture above makes me chuckle because it was from Mother's Day of 2005. I can't believe how much my tablescapes have improved and how much better my tea parties are today. I guess we live and learn!

I hope each of you has a blessed Mother's Day and gets to spend some time with your mom and children.

Happy Mother's Day mom! I love you and I thank you for all that you have given me and all you have done for me. You're the best!

Blessings to you!

Love Tammy

Pretty Pinks

Happy Pink Saturday Friends!

The rose bushes in my back yard are so beautiful right now and I have been enjoying their cuttings. This is my favorite rose in my garden. It is Abraham Darby and it is an Old World Rose. Isn't she lovely?
I had one peony that bloomed this year. She is the white one amongst the roses. They smell so heavely too!

I have been busy in my studio crafting away and created some lovely altered bottles that I bought at an antique store for $1 a piece. Some of them are old antique bottles too. I have six more to decorate and can't wait to gussie them up!

This one is "Tres Elegant" and oh, so sweet with lovley pink roses and glitter. She found a home on a tray on my dresser.

This is a fairy sprite bottle that looks old and vintage. I love how magical it turned out.

This is a tribute to the sea bottle because the music paper has words about how God made the sea. I love the pearls and the glitter on her.

I added a tiny seashell on to the bow for some sweet added detail. I think my bottles turned out so pretty!

And here is my grand piece I have been working on for weeks. It is a "love" banner for my fireplace.

I used some vintage music paper, tissue paper, chipboard, glitter, and tulle to make it. I just love how it turned out.

Here are some sweet eggs I made for my coffee table. I used old plastic Easter eggs and covered them with music paper, then added ribbon and roses for a final sweet touch.

These eggs are nestled in a sweet nest trimmed in lavender. It is just so sweet!I hope you have enjoyed my sweet pinks today. I didn't realize it until now but I used a lot of that vintage music paper and had a fun time with it. I hope you enjoyed my offerings and have been inspired to create some of your own sweet things. Thank you to Beverly for hosting another fun Pink Saturday celebration!

I hope you have a great weekend and a blessed Pink Saturday!

Blessings to you!
