Easter Pretties - Part 2

Hello Friends and Happy Pink Saturday! I have a TON of really sweet Easter pretties to show you but I am super busy right now so I am just giving you five projects I have been working on. I hope you will visit again to see more because I've got more, let me tell you!!! I bought this cute little bunny half price at Hobby Lobby and gave her a shabby makeover. As soon as I get better at painting roses she will get some on her hip, but look how sweet she is now?
This is a paper mache egg I ordered from a catalog and decided that it was just too plain. So after some embellishment . . .
she is looking much better! Oh, how springy and sweet it turned out!
This little lady and her friend below got a makeover too! I had an embellishment party last weekend and many things got made over. I love adding my own personal touch to things. I think they look so much sweeter!

These eggs were covered in paper mache but it had to come off and this is what the eggs looked like before . . .
I added some beautiful fabric, trim, ribbon, and spring flowers. Now they are perfect and match my sweet velveteen rabbits!
Like I said before I have a bunch more pretty Easter surprises waiting for you so please come back and take a look! I have been very busy with Easter pretties! I am having an Easter tea party this Saturday and I will have photos of all the pretties from our fun time posted soon!

I want to thank Beverly at www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com for hosting another Pink Saturday. I also want to thank Laura at www.decortoadore.blogspot.com for hosting a Spring Craft Linky Party this weekend. Easter Pretties - Part 1

Happy Pink Saturday! I want to thank Beverly for hosting another Pink Saturday for all of us pink lovin' ladies! Please visit her blog at www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com and check out all the other Pink Saturday posts! I took the blue and green spring bird decorations down and packed them away. Although they were pretty and still soft and pastel, I was so excited to bring some PINK back in to my life! I have several sweet Easter pinks to show you but first I wanted to share that wonderful Coconut Bird Nest recipe with you that I made for my spring tea! You take 2 egg whites and 2 1/4 cups of coconut and mix them together in a bowl. Measure the mixture out by tablespoons full (I used a 1/4 cup measuring cup because I found that easier for me) and form into nests. Place them on a baking sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 16-20 minutes. Let the nests cool completely and place candy eggs in the center. The recipe only makes about 5 or 6 nests so if you are feeding a crowd you may want to double or triple the recipe. I hope you enjoy them!
So I have been working hard to decorate for Easter and I decided to use a TON of pink this year. Things are sure looking pretty in my little cottage and I can't wait to share everything with you! Above you will see Miss Molly in a beautiful dress that was given to me by a sweet lady at my church that knows I love Victorian, frilly, pink things. She wanted me to have it because she knew I would love it. She is right!
Here are some Easter egg pillows I made last year from felt and embellishments. The pink one is my favorite!
Rebecca, www.rebecca-gatheryeroses.blogspot.com, painted this beautiful rabbit and I bought it when she had an antique booth in Oklahoma City. I sure miss that place! I made that sweet bucket next to the bunny. It was just a plain old metal bucket and with some love . . .
it turned out to be one of the sweetest Easter decorations I have. It is much prettier in person!
This fellow here is Chester. I bought him at Cracker Barrel one day and James and I named him Chester. I tied some PINK ribbon around his neck. It matches his fluffy tail that you can't see. It is totally pink! I think he is so cute!
Isn't this rose detail lovely? I added it to my sweet pink bird house yesterday to dress it up a bit!
Now I have to get better at painting roses and I will paint some on her and she will be perfect!

This is a plain pink jar I bought and added all the pretty ribbon, roses, and other embellishments to decorate it up. Aren't the bunnies so cute! I can't help but smile and laugh when I see them!

Here is a sweet Easter egg I made from felt and embellishments a few years ago. I think I will make some more of those to place around for Easter this year! They sure are sweet!
This is a small wreath I made last year to tie on the back of each one of my kitchen chairs. I love the sweet pastel colors. I hand-painted and speckled each one of the eggs. James helped me dismantle them because they are getting a makeover. They don't really match with the decor in the kitchen this year and I want them to be more PINK. I can't wait to show you the transformation!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Pink Saturday! Please leave me a comment so I know you were here and I will visit your blog in return!

Blessings to you!

Spring Bird Cottage

Hello Friends! I wanted to share with you my sweet spring cottage and the decorations I used for the month of March. I used birds, bird houses, bird cages, bird nests, and some flowers and garden statuary to create this sweet spring birdie cottage. These are some good shots of the entire living room. I love how everything is so fresh and pretty, just like spring!
Here is my fireplace mantle. I used a lot of green in honor of St. Patrick's Day but also because it is a great color to represent the newness of life that we find in the spring time. My mom made the beautiful "NEST" banner hanging on the mirror and I hand-painted each one of the eggs in the jars and nests around the room.

Here is a close-up shot of some of the mantle. I love this beautiful angel and don't dare put her outdoors for fear that she might get broken in the Oklahoma wind.

This shelf sits above my (ugly) television set on a wall in my living room. I am hoping to get a cabinet I can house my TV in to hide it from view and then I will have to take the shelf down, but for now it gets decorated with themed items for each holiday or season. My favorite thing on the shelf is the sweet shadow box with the nest in it because I made it! It was actually given to me by my boyfriend's mother for a birthday gift but the back glass was broken to pieces and it housed a heart made of dried red roses - that didn't really go with any of my decor in the house. I decided to take the broken back off, take the rose heart out, make a new back and cover it in "music paper", and add a pre-formed nest that I decorated with ribbon and flowers. Now it is one of the sweetest pieces and I love showing it off!

I have a mannequin I named Miss Molly and she gets a new dress for each season. She helps welcome the guests that come to my little cottage. Isn't the wreath on the door just darling? It is made from a garden hose and a watering can that I added greenery and flowers to.

Here is a great view of the entire living room from another angle. See how ugly the TV is? Hopefully I can save some money and buy a cabinet soon to hide that ugly thing! But I think the rest of the room is just lovely!

This is a table in front of my big picture window in my living room. I love all of the decorations on this table.
I purchased these plain wooden letters and covered them with scrapbook paper. I think they turned out so pretty!

Here is a sweet birdie pillow I made recently. The hardest part was the ruffle, but it was worth the effort because it turned out so pretty! I am going to make another accent pillow like this for Easter!
Here is another table in my living room and I love all of the sweet bird decor on it. I think my favorite thing on this table is the sweet blue porcelain tray with the birds and candle on it. I wish you could see the detail on this tray - it is just beautiful! I am going to use it again for my Easter decorating!

Here is a good picture of the dining area in my spring birdie cottage. If you want to see some better pictures of that tree over by the window please look at my older posts because I show detailed pictures of each one of the ornaments that I hand-made myself!

Here is a good view of the kitchen area. I love the shape of my kitchen - that U shape is wonderful for cooking. I also love the window over the sink that looks out onto my back yard. I love how the light shines in and illuminates the whole space in the morning.

Isn't my dining room lovely? I really enjoy decorating the china hutches you see in each corner of this picture. It was decorated for St.Patrick's Day in this picture. I used a lot of green dishes, shamrocks, and green candles.

If you would like to have a closer look at the table scape there are some great photos in the post right after this one. I had a spring tea party with my mom and grandma and the decorations are so pretty! I hope you will take a look!

I hope you have enjoyed the tour of my spring birdie cottage. I hope you will leave me a comment to let me know what you think!

Spring Time Pretties

Happy Pink Saturday my friends! I wanted to share some spring pretties I have made and the pictures of my spring tea party I had last weekend with my mom and grandma. Below is a picture of a sweet bird pillow I made last weekend. I think it turned out so sweet. The image on the pillow matches my blog wallpaper! Here is a closer look! Isn't it so tweet?
Here is a picture of the ribbon and flower detail. I love the soft pastel colors. So springy!

Here are a few jars I decorated for the pretty cupcake sprinkles inside. I will be making a few more for an Easter display. I can't wait to show you the rest!

Here is a closer look. Aren't they so pretty?

Here is the table scape for the spring tea party I had last weekend. I love those green dishes!

I made all kinds of yummy food for our time together. I was full before I got to taste everything.

I made fruit and yogurt parfaits and sprinkled granola on top. It was delicious!

I made some coconut nests and sweet bird egg cupcakes too!

Here is a close up of the cupcakes. They are Jelly Belly beans that look like bird eggs just for spring!

Aren't these nests adorable? They were tasty too!

The chocolate candy eggs almost look real! They were perfect for these nests!

My mom made some apricot and white chocolate chip scones and she make lemon curd to go with them. They were delicious and I was so glad there were leftovers because I had more the next day!

This is the main dish, a Spanish omelet made with mushrooms, red bell peppers, and potatoes. It was so delicious!

The best part of the tea was the company! My mom brought me a sweet gift. It was a mini book with birds and nests on it. It is so cute! She also brought me a cup and spoon she used when feeding me as a baby. I am so thankful to have those things and it was so thoughtful of her to give them to me.

My Nanny came too and I am so thankful that she was there. They are both really wonderful ladies and I am so thankful I belong to them.

Our spring tea was a great opportunity to indulge in some great lemon tea, some delicious food, and some great conversation. We had a great time together.

I hope you all have the time to enjoy a lovely cup of tea and to reflect on the blessings and beauty of spring. Happy Pink Saturday!

Blessings to You!
